RISING STARS GAME TO FEATURE HIDDEN TALENT

Date:  Source: Phase 1 Basketball

Toronto, ON: The Annual Rising Stars Showcase will NOT feature all the household names in our province. Instead, they will feature standout boys and girls that have had equally successful seasons, with most not participating in provincial or national programs.

With talent from the boys and girls side coming from as far as Winnipeg Manitoba, to as south to North Carolina, the 2012 Rising Stars game is scheduled to be another success. With most of the players attending as stars who have not yet been seen, Wayne Dawkins shares his view on his anticipation for the games.

“ I think too often with our all-star games we have the kids that everyone watches play at every event.  After a while it becomes repetitive, and very predictable.  We are more than excited about hosting this year’s event with a emphasis on showcasing the kids who haven’t necessarily  gotten the attention they “deserve”  either because of where they live, or where they attend school. I believe a lot of people are going to be surprised with the talent level of the new faces that will be in attendance. “

Dozens of players that have participated in the Rising Stars All Star game have went on to have successful careers at the OCAA,CIS,and Division 1 NCAA level. Some of the girls game Alumni include: Kendra Seto (Michigan) Kayla Alexander (Syracuse) ,Wumi Agunbiade (Duquesne) and Megan Lukan (Green Bay). On the guys said some few past players include: Cory Joseph (NBA, San Antonio Spurs), Kris Joseph (Syracuse), Junior Cadougan (Marquette) and  Olu Ashaolu (Oregon).

The event is set to tip off on June 2, 2012 at Seneca College, 1750 Finch Ave East, Toronto, ON. The rosters are almost filled so if you haven't registered do so now!
