Keene, NH- The Keene State College Owls Men's Ice Hockey Club surpassed all previous academic goals this year in results announced Tuesday. The team, which graduated 10 seniors who earned Bachelor's Degrees and another with a Master's degree last weekend, set a new club high GPA of 3.27 for the Spring semester. Players earned an average of 14.82 credits this semester and saw the team's cumulative GPA swell to 3.16 thanks to this Spring's strong performances. Three players, Josh Bell, Jeffrey Rossman and Andrew Pierce, scored perfect 4.0 GPAs to lead the team. 23 out of 28 players earned Dean's List honors this semester
In March, nine Keene State players received ACHA All-Academic awards from Division 2 Commissioner, Jay Peacock, which was the most of any team participating in the National Tournament.
"It's one thing to be successful at the rink and this team certainly has but for us, as coaches, it is very special to see how solid this group has been off-ice," commented Head Coach Bobby Rodrigue. "Most people were surprised to see the team get to the National Tournament in back-to-back seasons but when you consider that they've smashed academic, fundraising, community service and strength & conditioning goals this season, it shouldn't be a shock. They've delivered on everything we've asked of them."
