Chad Brown pitched six innings, giving up only one run to lead the Miners to victory. Adam Leeshafft closed out the game with two scoreless innings. Patrick Garvey went 3-3, all doubles, which led to three RBI to head the offense. Ace Heart added a double and two RBI to the cause. Dallas Hunt contributed two hits for the Bombers.

Nolan Sanders had a fantastic outing to end the Smokies winning streak and pull the Diamond Dogs to .500. He gave up only one run in seven innings. Paul Poirier and Jacob Skidmore each pitched a scoreless inning in relief to hold the victory. Poirier and Skidmore also had two hits each, with Poirier’s plating two runs. Chris LaPorte and Devin Belleville both added two hits. Chris Works pitched five good innings and Steve Whisler added three without giving up any earned runs. The Smokies pitchers combined to strikeout 10 batters. Works and Stephen D’Addario each had two hits.

July 10th @ Sayre Athletic Complex
W: Evan Charles L: Matt Roberts
The Stallions walk-off sacrifice fly by Ben Baker in the ninth inning gave the Stallions a dramatic win over the Smokies. Donnie Johnson threw seven shutout innings to lead the Stallions. He struck out 11 and only walked one. Evan Charles earned the win despite giving up two runs in two innings to close out the game. The Stallions got on the board in the fourth thanks to an RBI double by Johnson and an RBI double by Dan Greenberg. Matt Roberts went the distance for the Smokies, giving up only two earned runs. Jesse Tudor and Mike Speck each had two hits for the Smokies.

The Bombers pulled one game closer to .500 while simultaneously dropping the Diamond Dogs below .500.
Devin Belleville had three hits and Daniel Kusakari, Caleb Gupton, and Anthony Salamone each had two for the Diamond Dogs. Travis Smiley added two RBI.

The Diamond Dogs evened out their record thanks to nine outstanding innings from Daniel Kusakari. He only gave up one earned run on six hits, striking out six and walking one. Paul Poirier had a fantastic day at the plate with three hits and a season high five RBI. Ethan McKiddy and Jacob Skidmore also had two hits each while Devin Belleville scored three runs. In the loss, Adam Leeshafft pitched two scoreless innings, Ace Heart had two RBI, and Ryan Blevens scored two runs.

July 13th @ Georgetown College
W: Steve Whisler L: Justin Moran
An ace performance by Steve Whistler lifted the Smokies to a win over the Miners. In a complete game outing, Whistler struck out 14 hitters, allowed no earned runs, and gave up seven hits and no walks over nine innings. Six runs in the opening three innings allowed the Smokiesto cruise to victory. An RBI single by Sal Olivet, an RBI single by Mike Speck, and a wild pitch in the first inning and an RBI single by Jesse Lane during the second inning helped Smokies put some runs on the board early. Jesse Tudor reached base three times. He scored three runs and had one RBI. Keith Trumbauer and Patrick Garvey both had three hits in the loss for the Miners.

Donnie Johnson and Evan Charles homered to power the Stallions to a win and a .500 record. Johnson finished with four RBI, Charles had three, and Dan Greenburg and Dylan Moore contributed two more each. Justin Werner, Ben Baker, and Greenburg each had multi-hit games. In the loss, Joey Stamper had three hits and Michael Oaks went 2-2.

The Diamond Dogs inched closer to the Smokies in the LABL standings behind a quality outing from Nolan Sanders. In six innings, Sanders gave up three runs to keep a powerful Smokiesoffense at bay. Daniel Kusakari closed out the game giving up one run in two innings. Five Diamond Dogs had multi-hit games: Joel Katte, Ethan McKiddy, Chris LaPorte, Paul Poirier and Jeremy VanHoose. McKiddy and LaPorte each had four RBI and McKiddy hit his fourth home run. The Smokies did get two hits each from Chris Works and Jesse Lane.

W: Rob Franzen L: (No Stallions Stats)
Rob Franzen pitched five and two-thirds innings of shutout baseball to lead the Bombers. Michael Oaks threw the remainder of the game to earn a save. Oaks also contributed the lone Bomber RBI. Joey Stamper and Andrew Kling each collected two hits and Jared Long hit his second double of the season.

July 17th @ Sayre Athletic Complex
W: Matt Roberts L: Austin Heilman
In a back-and-forth affair, the Smokies became the first team in the LABL to reach 10 wins by breaking open a tie game, thanks to a five-run sixth inning. The key runs were scored on an RBI single by Joey Drinkard, a two-run double by Chris Works, and a two-run error. Matt Roberts pitched a complete game and recorded the win despite allowing five runs over nine innings. Roberts struck out six, walked two and gave up 11 hits. The Smokies were sparked by Drinkard and Works, who teamed up for three hits and five RBIs. Jesse Lane also had three RBI in the win. Ryan Blevens went 3-4 with two doubles and Justin Moran had two hits and two RBI for the Miners. Austin Heilman went 2-4 and had two RBI as well. He pitched four quality innings giving up two earned runs in the loss.

The Diamond Dogs used a late-inning comeback to also reach 10 wins on the season. Daniel Carr shut down the heavy-hitting Smokies offense to earn the win. The Dogs offense was sparked by Joel Katte who scored four runs and hit his first double of the season. Chris LaPorteand Justin Chlebowy both had three RBI; Anthony Salamone and Jeremy VanHoose hit in two each as well. Michael Laswell had three hits for the Smokies and Jesse Lane and Chris Works had two RBI. Starting pitcher Wes Drinkard had a quality outing for the Smokies, giving up three earned runs in five innings.

July 20th @ Georgetown College

Adam Lesshafft closed out a win for the Miners with four strong innings. He gave up only one run and struck out four. To his credit, starter Chad Brown only gave up one earned run in his four innings, but also surrendered four unearned runs. Patrick Garvey, Jordan Adler and Keith Trumbauer all doubled for the Miners. Garvey had three hits and Adler and Trumbauer had two RBI. Michael Oaks had a four-hit day and drove in three runs, Jason Ross had two RBI and Brendan Richardson had three hits for the Bombers.

July 24th @ Woodford Middle School

The Miners eeked out a win with three runs in the bottom of the ninth. They would not have pulled it out without the successful relief performance of Austin Heilman. He only retired two batters, but he squelched the big rally by the Stallions in the top of the ninth. Lance Shelton pitched well for eight shut-out innings, but couldn’t escape the ninth. The Miners got two hits each from Ryan Blevens, David Lucky, Frank Walters and Ace Heart. Walters and Heart each had two RBI as well.

Steve Whisler put together a quality outing for the Smokies. He held the Bombers to just one hit and struck out seven during his five innings of work. Rob Franzen ran out of gas in the fifth after holding the Smokies to one first-inning run. The Smokies scored in the fifth on an RBI single by Josh Watts, an RBI single by James Elkin, an RBI double by Justin Cain, and an error. Cain had three doubles and Wes Drinkard
