Golden Giants roll in game one

The Cowdin Cup Playoffs began on Tuesday night with six-teams in action. The series opener between the Midwest A's and Independence Veterans was postponed due to wet field conditions.
The Baldwin City Blues, behind a strong performance from Tyler Buss (Emporia State) bested the Liberty Monarchs by a score of 3-1. Game two of the series will be in Liberty on Wednesday afternoon, as the Blues want to punch their ticket to the East Finals. (Baldwin City leads the series 1-0)
The Junction City Brigade took the series opener against the Topeka Golden Giants by a score of 7-2. Brett Nickle (Washburn) and John Gardner both hit Home Runs for the Brigade and Lane Fleming (McPherson College) picked up the win. The series heads to Topeka Wednesday as Junction City has their eyes on the West Finals. (Junction City leads the series 1-0)
In Sabetha, the Rossville Rattlers and Sabetha Lobos played an entertaining game that came down to a 9th inning offensive show by the Rattlers. The 'Snakes were able to score 4-runs in the 9th and hold one to top the Lobos 7-5. Taylor Mah (Nebraska-Kearney) picked up the win after a strong start by Nick Cole (Briar Cliff University). Four Rattlers had two RBI; Matt Jones (Evansville), Danny Mitchell Jr. (Arkansas-Little Rock), Michael Sinks (Kansas), and Jeff Christen (Evansville). The two will face off again on Wednesday night in Rossville as the Rattlers look to advance to the West Finals. (Rossville leads the series 1-0)
