WEEK 1 SPOTLIGHT PLAYERS

Anthony Valdes (Southern University) / Wi Sports

Valdes led week one with a .556 BA, 4 runs scored and 4 RBI.  He showed tremendous athleticism going stealing 3 bags on 4 attempts and flashing range and strong arm from right field.

Davis Dunn (Shelton State)  / Double Play

Davis sent the first pitch he seen on the summer season screaming over the left field wall.  He added two more extra base hits and continues to show serious power in the middle of the line-up for Coach Jorge Roque and Double Play.

Jordan Talley (N/A)  /  Bowie Outfitters

Talley spend fall on the Nicholls State Colonel football team, and in his first mound time this summer he struck out 7 batters in 4 innings, scattering 4 hits and only allowing 1 free pass.  While stats were not eye popping, starting the 3rd game of the week for the Bowie squad, Talley offered a steady quality start that stabilized a somewhat taxed bullpen in week one.

Kyle Rossow (UNSIGNED)  /  Wi Sports

Rossow joined the RSCBL on Tuesday and went on to pitch 5 innings, allowing 1 hit, 0 runs and striking out 9 hitters.  Rossow is unsigned from St. Martin HS in Biloxi, MS. and hoping to gain an opportunity to pitch this fall.  The tall righty is showing that he is absolutely on pace to find those opportunities.  Earning a two inning save in his first outing, he was in line for a possible win in second game when called in extra innings on Thursday night.

Coach Carey Ourso and the Janitors of the Jani-King squad earn team honors on the week, as no player top the leader board or posted any eye popping stats, the entire roster posted solid numbers, with Gabe Hannum (LSUE) and Nick Ourso (BRCC) posted .500 BA and the entire pitching staff anchoring 19 innings and only 5 ER.

League returns to action Monday night June 13th, 6:30 pm first pitch at Pete Goldsby Field.
