The Merchants Opened their League schedule with a double header on the road againt the Omaha Red Raiders and the Omaha Black Sox Saturday, on a blustery day in America's heartland. The Merchants found themselves in a pitcher's duel in game one, and were propelled to victory by a stellar pitching performance from Mark Lesinski. Lesinski posted a complete game, with 0 earned runs and only two hits allowed. The Red Raiders were able to squeak across two un-earned runs, but the Merchants offense came through, scoring 4 runs on 8 hits, with RBI's by Daulton Sauce, Mason Bellew, and Drake Wawro. Final score of Game 1 was 4-2.

Game Two of the double header was against the Omaha Black Sox, who took a "pitch by committe" approach to the contest. With a new pitcher on the mound every inning for the Black Sox, the Merchants offense could not settle into a rhythm, and despite notching 6 hits, could not get a run across. Pitching and defense was solid for the Merchants in game two, however, without tallying any runs, the Merchants fell to the Black Sox, 2-0.
