The Port Huron Prowlers have some of the toughest players in the Federal Hockey League.

But off the ice, they have proved to be just like anyone else. On Tuesday, that meant reading to children at East Shore Leadership Academy.

"I think any time a child wants to get into an athletic sport they need to understand that is not the end all be all," East Shore Leadership Academy principal Deanna Keller said. "The academics come first in order to play. With the Prowlers coming in and being a part of one front and seeing them as a team, that's a big treat for the kids to see the guys here.

"This is the third time this year we have had them since December. They have really come out and been a part of the community and being with the kids. It's been a huge asset having them here reading with the kids and being very friendly."

The Prowlers had a pair of players on hand giving out free tickets to their game Thursday night and also reading to children and signing autographs.
