Indiana takes care of Ringgold early, wins 9-1

Indiana jumped out to a five-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat Ringgold, 9-1.

Indiana was led by Dillion Butz, who racked up one goal. Butz scored 7:41 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Indiana. Ethan Boyer provided the assist.

Indiana put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Ringgold to score on any of its five power plays. Ringgold was unable to stop Indiana from sending pucks towards the net, and Indiana eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Indiana outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, Indiana averages 6.4 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with six goals. Indiana could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Indiana also got points from Mitchell Lewis, who also registered three goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Boyer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Garrison Sharp, who also had one goal and two assists. Indiana also had goals scored by Tyler Mulac, Luke Schrengost, and Luke Wachob, who scored one goal each. More assists for Indiana came via Gage Charlton, Keegan Fulton-Schuller, and Nate Faris, who contributed one each and Joel Santoro and Jacob Clark, who each chipped in two.

Ringgold's offense operated below its season average. Ringgold averages 4.0 goals per game. Indiana's defense shut down Ringgold's forwards for much of the game, and Ringgold got off only 14 shots during the contest.

Indiana's starting goalie, Zane McElhenny, made eight saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Megan Lydick, who stopped five shots. Indiana registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Cole Crownover recorded 34 saves for Ringgold. Ringgold incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
