T.O. has At least one team contract offer on the table. If an NFL team won’t sign him, the Chicago Rush will. The arena football team posted on their website that they have extended a contract to the receiver for the 2012 season. The contract will be good for the ”standard player agreement”.
Rush General Manager and President, Geno Nudo, feels that this is an ideal time to bring aboard the future NFL Hall of Famer.
“It would be a fantastic honor to add Terrell to our current roster for the 2012 season,” said Nudo.
The almost 38 year old tallied 72 receptions for a little under 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns in the 2010 season with the Cincinnati Bengals. Owens ranks second in NFL Career Receiving Yards with 15,934. During 15 seasons, the veteran has accumulated 156 touchdowns, and he is currently the only NFL player to score two touchdowns against each of the 32 NFL teams.
There is also talk of NFL’s Chicago Bears adding T.O. to its roster. (His production last season was better than any Bears’ receiver has had in over a decade). Jay Cutler may catch a little mouth from Owen’s but he would sure help the Bears offensive game. Although the Bears were among the zero scouts at Terrell’s workout on Tuesday; I am sure they know how to find his workout and avoid the light of the cameras present at a public workout.
If the Bears were playing like the Packers (which they aren’t) they wouldn’t need to even consider bringing in T.O. But since they are playing like a team that needs help getting the ball to the end zone, I would say he couldn’t hurt. If T.O. turns out to be out of football shape (as Jerry Rice suggested) then they can cut him. If Jay Cutler and the veteran receiver have no chemistry, cut him. And if he starts talking that smack to anyone, tell him he has to go.
Someone give T.O. one more good run. He knows he is close to the end of his career. Someone put him on a roster, throw him the ball and just see what happens. If no NFL team is willing to try him then I guess arena football it is for the free agent wide-receiver.
