The Second day of the St. Margret’s Tournament started off with a bang when Bishop Canevin faced off against Pittsburgh Central Catholic.
Bishop Canevin recorded their first goal at 5:11 in the first period when Eric Smith of Central Catholic was called for interference. The goal was scored by Garrett Godlewski and assisted by Matthew Walsh.
Bishop Canevin continued their momentum in the second period when they scored again 5:09 into the period. This time Matthew Walsh registered the goal with an assist by Chadd Lounder making the score 2-0.
After over a period and a half Pittsburgh Central finally got some momentum when Bishop Canevin’s Peter Karney took a penalty for hooking. With 2:00 left in the period Pittsburgh Central’s Kevin Kline scored on the power play with assists from Jake Rostek and Eric Smith.
It did not take long for Bishop Canevin to stop any momentum Central may have gained when Peter Karney scored 35 seconds later with an assist from Matthew Walsh putting Walsh at 3 points for the game making the score 3-1.
The third period was completely control by Central. Eric Smith started off the period quick with a power play goal 2:33 into the third period with an assist by Jake Rostek.
Kellen Carleton scored the second goal of the period for Pittsburgh Central 2 minutes later, tying the game at 3-3 and sending it into over time.
Bishop Canevin got their momentum back 2:54 into over time when Peter Karney scored the winning goal giving him 2 points for the game. Matthew Walsh who finished the game with 4 points assisted Karney.
