Championship Sunday is Set!
Date: Aug 23, 2019
On Aug. 23, the Bronx Orioles and the NYC Mud Hens will square off at Roberto Clemente State Park for the 2015 NYCMBL 'AA title. Below is a quick look at the Sunday's matchup.
Regular Season:
The Hens couldn't find a way to best the O's, losing three regular season games to the Bronx-based squad. The Orioles have clubbed six home runs against the Hens this year and have outscored their championship round opponents 35-11..
Playoffs:
The Orioles topped the Hens 6-3 in their first round playoff game and proceeded to take down the top-seeded Bronx Titans the following day to advance to the championship.
The Hens followed their saturday loss to the O's with convincing wins over both the Yonkers Railsplitters and the Bronx TItans. Their road to the finals involved four games in fewer than 48 hours. The Hens' offense, which has struggled at times this year, seems to be coming around, as the Hens have averaged 9 runs per game in the playoffs thus far.
The Orioles need just one win to take the 2015 NYCMBL Championship, while the Hens need to win two straight games to claim the title.
From the Manager's Mouth:
BX Orioles
"Chemistry certainly played a large part in the team's success. Building necessary chemistry and learning how to mesh and combine all of our unique personalities has enabled us to work together as a team and build a solid unbreakable foundation that has served us through wins and losses." - Orioles coach Glenn Mulero

NYC Mud Hens
"Past and Future Hens (Ps and Fs) have been wishing us the best of luck all week, and we appreciate all the claps we get. We've battled hard all year, and we've kinda been like the Don Draper of comeback wins. We've been better, offensively, in the playoffs, and some of the pitching performances we've gotten have been magic."- Mud Hens coach Mike Smith
