Championship Sunday is Set!
Date: Aug 23, 2019
As the hunt for the 'A' division title heats up, the three remaining teams have established themselves as worthy contenders to the crown. With a brilliant postseason run, the 2018 Champion, the Yonkers Railsplitters have already punched their ticket to the finals now find themselves in the enviable position of awaiting a challenger. That challenger will be determined this weekend, as the No. 2 seed Brooklyn Dodgers get set for an elimination rematch with the No. 3 NY Patriots.
The Pats and the Dodgers squared off already during the postseason, with the Patriots earning a controversial victory. The Dodgers responded well after that loss however, and now find themselves with a chance to earn some measure of revenge for that July 28 defeat and earn a trip to the finals in the process. Pitching depth will be key for the Dodgers, who could elect to start either Travis Wu, Luis Almonte or Craig Batchelor, the three pitchers who have shouldered the bulk of the load this season.
Without a true proven ace, look for the Pats to rely heavily on their potent offense to carry them to victory. Brudelin Suero, Hanley Sanchez and Chris Cancel have been among the division's most effective hitters this year and will need to produce in key spots this weekend.
