Extra-inning thriller favors the Springfield Sliders, 6-5 winners over the Hannibal Cavemen

The Springfield Sliders (13-16) outlasted the Hannibal Cavemen (7-18) at Clemens Field 6-5 on Wednesday after 10 innings.

With the score tied at five in the tenth inning, Brett Charbonneau came to the plate and reached on an error, scoring Weston Byers.

Charbonneau did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Springfield Sliders, reaching base four times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the third innings and singled in the fifth and sixth innings.

Jose Marin brought the heat against the Hannibal Cavemen during his outing. The Hannibal Cavemen managed just two hits off of Marin, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four during his six innings of work.

Brendan Kleekamp was charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
