Single-A Showdowns!

The NYCMBL features a number of high-profile Single-A games on the schedule this weekend, as four of the top teams in the division will be in action against one another.

On Saturday evening at Taft High School, the Astoria Mets will square off against the Wingbar Warriors in the first meeting between the two clubs this year. At 7-2, the Warriors have quickly established themselves as one of the division's frontrunners. Led by hurlers Carl Weber and Joe Castellanos, Wingbar has done a solid job keeping opposing teams off the bases this season. The Mets, on the other hand, have three reliable arms and a stacked lineup that features nine players with at least 10 at-bats who are currently hitting .300 or better.

Over at Clemente, the first place Whitestone Nationals will take on another contender in the Gotham City Bats in a single nine-inning affair. The Bats have shown a penchant for tight ball games thus far, and taking a game from the 8-2 Nats could be exactly the push they need in the second half of the season.

In the Double-A division, Too Hot will look to get back to its winning ways when the team faces off against the second-place Bronx Orioles at Old Boys High School. Two weeks ago, Too Hot handed the Titans their first loss of the year, but could not carry that momentum into last weekend's showdown with the Yonkers Railsplitters. The Orioles have won 11 straight games.
