Legends Baseball Championship Sunday

Legends Baseball Instruction – LBI teams played number two seeds for playoff championship Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Historic Dean D’Ambola baseball field in East Hanover. (LBI has been playing their home games in East Hanover this spring.)

The season league Champions LBI White team where defeated by a very well coached and talented East Hornets team. The very team that LBI founder and head baseball coach Tony Santomauro trains during the off season. The fast paced game ended with the Hornets defeating the Legends White team by a score of 11 – 5.

Legends out played their opponent the last three innings of the game, but came up short with their comeback effort. Outstanding performances by Chaz A – Bloomfield, Alex G & Alex W – Chatham, gave the regular season champs much to be grateful for and to look forward to the summer to continue their winning ways.

The Second Game proved to be just as fast passed as the first game with the addition of some fiery and competitive coaches from second seeded Lincoln Park adding some drama. The tension built up as the game progressed and took on the feeling of a true tournament championship game. Legends Blue was up to the task. After splitting the regular season games, LBI Blue came away with a tightly contested 5 -3 victory. The game ended with LBI closer Tyler L – Woodland Park striking out the last batter (8 of last 9 outs were strikeouts) of the game with the bases loaded. Tyler L – saved a brilliant outing by LBI Blue starter Rob G – East Hanover who pitched 4 innings allowing just 1 earned run. Tyler contributed with timing hitting along with Scott L – North Caldwell, Ethan Lang – Montville and Nick B – Caldwell.
