CHICO- The Chico Outlaws' catcher Al Quintana is headed to the Calgary Vipers after his contract was purchased by the team.
Quintana hit .297 with five home runs in his time with the Outlaws. He came to the Outlaws after playing for the AAA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Las Vegas 51's. Quintana was highly coveted by many teams around the league given his high level of production combined with his leadership ability.
He will now look forward to finishing out the season with the Calgary Vipers. With only a few games left before the start of the NABL postseason, Quintana will try to mesh with his new teammates before the Vipers take on their neighbors to the North, the Edmonton Capitals. The Vipers currently lead the Capitals by half a game in the North Division standings, so Quintana's presence in the middle of their lineup will bolster their effort to retain home field advantage against their division rivals.
