Chico, CA - Demetrius Banks allowed four runs in six innings, Al Quintana homered and drove in four runs and Adam Buschini hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning that proved to be the difference as the Chico Outlaws defeated the Yuma Scorpions 6-5 Thursday at Nettleton Stadium.
Banks (5-6) gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out six before Jason Stevenson took over in the seventh inning.
The Outlaws jumped on Yuma starter Gilbert De La Vara (6-5) for three runs in the first inning. Jay Pecci led off the rally with a single, Bobby Hill hit a one-out double and both scored on Quintana's two-run single. Quintana took second on the play and after the second out, scored when Brian McFall reached on a two-base error that made it 3-0.
The Scorpions cut the deficit to 3-2 in the second, but Chico answered with two runs in the bottom of the third on Quintana's two-run homer.
Yuma added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to get within 5-4, but Jake Rife reached on an error leading off the eighth for Chico, McFall singled and Buschini followed with his run-scoring single.
