Firehawks swept in semis by Traverse City

The Soo Firehawks' 2014-15 season came to an end Saturday night in Traverse City as the Hounds swept the Firehawks in the MWJHL semifinals with a 3-1 win at Centre ICE.

Scott Luca’s power-play goal at 14:34 of the third period snapped a 1-1 tie and Kevin Hansen added an empty-netter late to seal the win.

Kevin Cole scored a first-period goal for the Hounds and goaltender David Krejcik finished with 32 saves.

Anthony Laaksonen tallied the Firehawks’ lone goal and Mackenzie Bruce made 38 stops in the Soo crease.

Friday night, Patrick Rogowski scored two goals and Krejcik stopped all 26 shots he faced as the Hounds blanked the Firehawks 6-0.

Luca and Cam Fisher each tallied a goal and an assist and Cole and Zak Pipers added one goal each for the Hounds.

Cam Givens tacked on two assists as well.

Soo goalies Cody Call and Mackenzie Bruce combined to make 29 saves.
