FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Every year in junior hockey, change is inevitable.

Such is the case with the now-former Midwest Junior Hockey League, which merged with the United States Premier Hockey League and will play as the USPHL’s Midwest Division for the 2015-16 season.

The Michigan Ice Dogs also see the move to the USA Hockey-sanctioned USPHL as a major change and the franchise has rebranded itself the Michigan Wild.

“Going to the USPHL will be a positive change for all of and we felt as an organization that getting a fresh start as a franchise was a key priority during these spring and summer months,” said Wild owner-GM Jeff Price. “The Ice Dogs’ longstanding traditions and philosophies will live on through the Wild.”

Kyle Lang will remain as head coach of the Wild and the team will continue to play out of the Farmington Hills Ice Arena.

The Wild has also announced skates/tryouts for the 2015-2016 season that will take place on Tuesdays at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena. Cost is just $10 per skate.
