Demmers stymies Detroit Fighting Irish, Motor City Monarchs wins 4-1

Stephan Demmers stood on his head and made 27 saves to lead Motor City Monarchs to a 4-1 victory over Detroit Fighting Irish.

The win by Motor City Monarchs clinched the best of three series at 2-1.

Motor City Monarchs was sparked by Zach Kopinski, who grabbed one goal. Kopinski scored 3:07 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Motor City Monarchs. Justin Session provided the assist.

Motor City Monarchs stifled Detroit Fighting Irish's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Motor City Monarchs forced Detroit Fighting Irish goalie Jacob Gorzelski to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots.

Motor City Monarchs also had goals scored by Bryce Peplinski, Jarrad Vroman, and Adam Jonak, who each put in one. In addition, Motor City Monarchs received assists from Trevor Hillman, who had one and Derrick Treppa, who had two.

Motor City Monarchs totaled 49 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and one major and went 2-for-12 on the power play. Gorzelski rejected 47 shots on goal for Detroit Fighting Irish. Detroit Fighting Irish totaled 77 minutes in penalty time with 16 minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play.
