Motor City Monarchs could not stop Detroit Fighting Irish's Ken Winter, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.

Winter got on the scoresheet 9:33 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:15 into the first and at 18:32 into the third.

With the win, Detroit Fighting Irish avoided elimination to make the series score 1-1 in the best of three series.

Motor City Monarchs' 14 penalties came back to haunt it, as Motor City Monarchs let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Detroit Fighting Irish excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Detroit Fighting Irish additionally got points from Shawn Eastman, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Detroit Fighting Irish also had goals scored by Eric Long and Steven Sewell, who each put in one. In addition, Detroit Fighting Irish received assists from Michael Perry, Shawn Mott, Richard Pinkowski, Robert Danyo, Chase Tackett, James Smith, and Chuck Hicks, who contributed one each.

Motor City Monarchs was led by Adam Jonak, who had one goal and one assist. Jonak scored 7:30 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Detroit Fighting Irish. Matthew Snyder picked up the assist. Others who scored for Motor City Monarchs included Bryce Peplinski and Tory Shand, who scored one goal each.

Detroit Fighting Irish incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Motor City Monarchs ended with 54 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and two majors. For Motor City Monarchs, Corey Finnemore and Andrew Robinson were ejected from the contest.
