Maui, Hawaii-- The Yuma Scorpions (16-33) lost both games to Maui (24-25) on Sunday and find themselves 7.5 games back from a playoff spot and 15.5 back from 1st place.  It was a long road trip for the Scorpions as they will enjoy a half day in Hawaii to relax before traveling back to Yuma, Arizona in the wee morning hours on Tuesday.

Game 1

Jon Huizinga was very effective against the Maui hitters giving up only 2-runs in the contest.  He was credited with a no decision, as once again, the Scorpions lost in the final inning 3-2.  The Scorpions collected 8-hits, but were unable to string any together as Carlos Leon was the only person to score in the game.  Eric Stolp (3-2) would pick up the loss after issuing two walks in the 9th.  He was then able to putout the next two batters before an RBI ground rule double by Gered Mochizuki ended the game.

Game 2

Jose Canseco (1-2) took to the mound in game 2, pitching just as well as Huizinga in game 1.  The result was the same for the Scorpions as they lost 5-0.  Canseco gave up 5-runs, only 2-were earned as 2 errors accounted for some trouble in the game.  The bats were silent for the Scorpions as they were only able to nab 4-hits.

Matt Broughton (2-3) of Maui threw a complete game 7-innings.  He was very effective only walking 2 as he faced only 27-batters in the contest.  Dwayne White's sacrifice fly RBI in the second inning proved to the winner in the contest as Maui only need one to win.

The Scorpions will come home to play on Tuesday, July 19 with start time of 7:35pm.  They will enjoy a 10-game homestand against Lake County and Maui.  July 22 will include fireworks with the price of admission.  You can catch the Scorpions games for $5 at the Stadium or catch them live on Scorpions TV powered by goliveyuma.com.
