BOSTON, Mass. -- Postseason Award Week continues in the Eastern Hockey League with the announcement that Jon Ruiz of the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers has been named the EHL's Most Valuable Player and Forward of the Year.

The Johnson & Wales commit from Williamstown, N.J., put together a season worthy of multiple awards as he led the league in goals (36) and points (67), and tied for the league lead in game winning tallies (7).  Ruiz played three seasons for the Junior Flyers before making his NCAA student-athlete commitment and finished his Junior career with 73 goals and 126 points.

"Jon is an example of what hard work can achieve," said Junior Flyers head coach and general manager Jerry Domish.  "His journey as a player has been incredible. To start out from where he did, and then become league MVP, says that he is extremely hard working.  This an amazing accomplishment and a tribute towards his character. I could not feel happier for him and our program will truly miss him."
