Too Many Maui Hits Take Down Scorpions

Date:  Source: NABL: Yuma Scorpions

Maui, Hawaii -- There were 29 hits in the contest between the Yuma Scorpions (16-31) and the Maui Na Koa Ikaika (22-25), 18 belonged to the Ikaika.  The Scorpions had their chances to take the early lead, but ultimately left 15 runners on base.  2-out hits with runners in scoring position have been scarce for the Scorpions all season.  They are only hitting .280 with runners in scoring position with 2-outs, bringing in only 71 RBI's in these situations.  The first inning was a bust as the bases were loaded with 2-outs as no runs came across the plate.

The Scorpions did get things rolling scoring 2 runs apiece in the second and third innings, but gave up six to Maui.  There were 11-hits for the Scorpions on the night, all of which were singles.  It was an odd night as Chris Britton (3-2) picked up the loss.  He lasted 4-innings giving up 7-earned runs.  Dorado and Canseco were unable to remedy the situation on the mound as Maui's Romon Martinez ( 1-0) shut the bats down for 4 1/3 innings.  The final score was 15-4.

The Scorpions will be playing a double header on Sunday in Maui before they travel back to Yuma to take on the Lake County Fielders.  The day will start at 2:05pm (5:05pm AZ).
