BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Traverse City Hounds snapped their three-game losing streak with a 7-3 win over the Detroit Fighting Irish Saturday afternoon at the Ice Box Sports Center.

Austin Flores (pictured) scored twice and added three assists, while Cam Givens chipped in a goal and two assists for Traverse City (35-3-1-2).

“We played much better today, but still not 100 percent,” Hounds’ head coach Jacek Wilk said. “We have to play better tomorrow.”

Scott Luca and Greg Meuser each added a goal and an assist and Cam Fisher and Buddy Rose scored single goals in the win.

Kevin Hansen chipped in two assists and goaltender David Krejcik made 17 saves for his MWJHL-leading 19th win of the season.

“Yesterday’s game (a 2-0 shutout loss to Detroit) was probably the worst game we played all year,” Givens said. “We came to the rink today knowing we just had to forget about last night. We got on them quick and were consistent throughout the game.”

For the Fighting Irish, Shawn Mott, Jacob Hayes and Steven Sewell scored and Christian Ramage posted two assists.

Kory Dombrowski, who shut out the Hounds last night and was pulled after the sixth goal today, and Jacob Gorzelski combined to make 28 saves in the Detroit net.

The two teams wrap their weekend series Sunday afternoon at 1:10 p.m.

“We just have to come in with the same mindset we did today and outwork them the whole game,” added Flores.
