Wildcats end losing streak with thrilling walkoff win over...
Date: Apr 25, 2015
Every team with a quality defense has a common theme; a strong middle. The Finneytown Wildcats may have taken the first few steps in building that strong middle with the defensive play of sophomores Austin Cahill and Adam Schwegman. With senior catcher Sam Brumett behind the plate and junior Byron Famble planning to occupy centerfield, the Wildcats will look to the young sophomore duo to man the middle infield. Schwegman impressed coaches earlier with his bat and has recently taken the reigns as the next Wildcat shortstop. Cahill will move from third base to second base as the two sophomores strive to become a double play combo that will give fits to opposing teams over the next few years. Cahill will also pull double duty as a pitcher, leaving the door open for others to team up with Schwegman up the middle. A couple of candidates could be Michael Whitt and his brother Ryan Whitt. Another possible solution could be sophomore Joey Gerbus, who has yet to join the team as he finishes up his season as a member of the Finneytown Wildcats Basketball Program. As the final week of optional workouts begin, the Wildcats will be anticipating the arrivals of Gerbus, Hayden Parker (younger brother of Grant), Jairon Perkins, and plenty of others as winter sports begin to wrap up their respective seasons.
