ALPENA, Mich. - Jared Kwiatkowski’s goal with 5:38 to play in the third period broke a 1-1 tie and the Alpena Flyers downed the Soo Firehawks 2-1, sweeping their weekend series Sunday afternoon at Northern Lights Arena.

Tait Froggett added the other Alpena goal and Connor Kassuba turned aside 32 shots between the pipes.

Cody Therrian (pictured) netted the lone Soo goal and Mackenzie Bruce registered 35 saves in net.

The Firehawks are also idle next weekend and next play in Decatur for three Feb. 27-March 1.
