TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – The Decatur Blaze topped the Traverse City Hounds, winning the weekend series with a 3-2 win Sunday afternoon at Centre ICE.
Dylan Farmer’s goal at 19:34 of the third period snapped a 2-2 tie and proved to be the game-winner.
Ryan Redpath had knotted the game 2-all at 13:04.
Micah Young also scored for Decatur and goaltender Matt Hatcher finished with 57 saves.
“Decatur played well all weekend and they picked a great weekend for their power play to come alive,” said Hounds’ head coach Scott Gardiner.
“We’re going to bounce back from these past two games and move forward,” added Traverse City defenseman Andrew Dzierwa.
For the Hounds, Cam Fisher and Stan Swiderek scored and David Krejcik (pictured) stopped 33 shots in goal.
“We played a good game today, but the bounces just didn’t go our way,” Hounds’ forward Patrick Rogowski said. “We just have to have a good week of practice and come out with speed next weekend.”
The Hounds (34-2-1-2) travel to play three against the Detroit Fighting Irish next weekend at the Ice Box Sports Center in Brownstown, Mich.
“We’ve been working as a team,” said Traverse City forward Austin Flores. “We’re coming together closer as a team as well.”
