Boyd stops 44 as Ice Dogs beat the Soo

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - The Soo Firehawks led the Michigan Ice Dogs 3-1 after 20 minutes, but the Ice Dogs rallied with three unanswered to take a 4-3 win Friday night at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena.

Spencer Godin, who had three points on the night, scored what proved to be the game-winner at 3:08 of the third period.

Joe Russo and Todd Grzembski scored in the second period for the Ice Dogs and Brent Young in the opening period.

Russo and Young each had a goal and an assist and Michigan goalie Chris Boyd (pictured) turned aside 44 shots to gain the victory.

For the Firehawks, Mario Taranto, Cody Therrian and Zach Eitrem scored and Cody Call finished with 39 saves between the pipes.

The Ice Dogs and Firehawks wrap up their weekend series Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
