Jon Organ scored the eventual game-winner with 65 seconds left in the second stanza as the Port aux Basques Junior Mariners shaded the Central Junior Cataracts 4-3 in Game 1 of a best-of-seven final Sunday at the Botwood Arena.

Sunday's game was supposed to be Game 2 of the final, but Game 1 - slated for Saturday night at the Botwood Arena - was cancelled after both teams showed up at the rink only to find out there were no on-ice officials available to handle the contest.

D.J. Elliott, Greg Edgar and Riley Ricks also scored for the Junior Mariners. Grant Sampson (2) and Jordan Snow replied for the Central Junior Cataracts.

Game 2 of the series is slated for Friday 8p.m. at the Bruce II Sports Centre in Port aux Basques. Game 3 of the series is slated for Saturday 7p.m. at the Bruce II Sports Centre and Game 4 is slated for Port aux Basques on Sunday at 1p.m. at the Bruce II Sports Centre.
