Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Adelaide Adrenaline defeated Melbourne Ice in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.

Adelaide Adrenaline saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Adelaide Adrenaline made the score 3-1 on a goal by Natasha Farrier at 8:36 in the third period. Melbourne Ice evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Alivia Del Basso at 16:58 in the third period.

Adelaide Adrenaline's offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 3.0 shots per game it averages.

Adelaide Adrenaline additionally got points from Bethanie Kavanagh, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Adelaide Adrenaline received assists from Kelly Harris and Kirsty Venus, who contributed one each.

Melbourne Ice excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Melbourne Ice put 31 shots on net during the contest, more than the 2.8 it averages per game.

Melbourne Ice was led by Kayla Kaluzny, who tallied two goals and one assist. Kaluzny scored the first of her two goals on the power play at 32 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Melbourne Ice. A hooking penalty on Kavanagh had put Melbourne Ice on the power play. Del Basso assisted on the tally. Kaluzny's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Adelaide Adrenaline with 8:37 left in the third period. Rylie Padjen picked up the assist. Melbourne Ice also got points from Del Basso, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Melbourne Ice were Anjali Thakker and Lindsay Audia, who each chipped in one.

Jo Phillis made 28 saves for Adelaide Adrenaline on 31 shots. Adelaide Adrenaline incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Shanley Peters rejected 25 shots on goal for Melbourne Ice. Melbourne Ice incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
