Junior Royals facing elimination after two losses in Port aux Basques

The Corner Brook Junior Royals have their backs against the wall.

The Port aux Basques Junior Mariners took a stranglehold on their best-of-five semifinal series with a 6-4 win over the Corner Brook Junior Royals Sunday at Bruce II Sports Centre. The Junior Mariners won the series opener Saturday night with an exciting 6-5 overtime win at Bruce II Sports Centre.

Riley Ricks scored four goals to pave the way for the baby Mariners. Greg Edgar and Nick Tucker also scored for the winners.

Stephen Hobbs (2), Jordan Kennedy and Grant Vincent suppliedd the offence for the Junior Royals.

The Junior Royals will try to stave off elimination in Game 3 Friday 8p.m. at Pepsi Centre.

The following is a quick look at Saturday's series opener between the baby Royals and the Junior Mariners.

Josh White was the overtime hero with his marker at 2:32 of the extra period Saturday night.
 
Nick Tucker notched a hat trick for the winners, while Tyler Walshe and Greg Edgar added single tallies to the scoring parade in regulation time for the hometown side. Grant Vincent paved the way for the baby Royals with a three-goal performance.
 
Blair Robertson and Matt Lundrigan also scored for the Junior Royals.
