Junior Mariners sweep Stephenville

STEPHENVILLE — Brett Robinson and Riley Ricks scored two goals apiece to lead the Port aux Basques Junior Mariners to a 9-2 drubbing of the Stephenville Jets Sunday at the Stephenville Dome.

The victory gave the gateway town squad a sweep of the airport town representatives after the visitors posted a 10-3 win over Stephenville Saturday night.

Jon Organ, Tyler Walshe, Mark Gillam, Jordan Ball and Josh White also scored for the victors.

John Piercey and Marc Piercey lit the lamp for the Junior Jets.

The following is a quick look at Saturday’s game at the Stephenville Dome between the Junior Mariners and Junior Jets:

 

Mariners 10, Jets 3

Riley Ricks paved the way for Port aux Basques with a four-goal performance Saturday night at the Bruce II Sports Centre.

William Sheaves (2), Jordan Ball, Brett Robinson, Greg Edgar and Josh White supported the high-octane offence of the Junior Mariners.

Marc Piercey, Dillon Roberts and Sidney Payne scored for the Stephenville squad.

The following is a quick look at Saturday’s game between the Corner Brook Junior Royals and the league-leading, undefeated Central Cataracts at Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium:

 

Cataracts 7, Junior Royals 1

Adam Gaye scored twice to lead the charge for the Cats.

Travis Champion, Danny Evans, Josh Luff, Scott Cantwell and Mike Vaters also scored for the winners.

Stephen Hobbs was the lone marksman for the baby Royals.
