The Detroit Fighting Irish opened up the 2014 Preseason on Friday night against the EasternMichigan University
Eagles at the Ice Box Sports Center taking it on the chin 8-0. However when speakingwith Coach Dan Vasquez after the
game he was almost giddy about the game and his team play. " I was very pleased and excited to watch my team
play tonight EMU is a strong program with some very good players and they are coached by an exceptional head coach
in Kevin Gee. Despite some youthful mistakes and at times just being overpowered our club displayed poise and an
agressiveness that I did not expect.
On Saturday the Irish faced off against the University of Toledo Rockets losing 7-3.The irish went down 3-0 in
the first period. After some locker room adjustments the team battled back in the 1st minute of play to scoring 2
goals at the hands of Ken Winter both goals were assisted by James Smith to make the score 3-2. Toledo
would score two more in the 2nd while Christian Ramage at 5:42 capitalized on the recieving end of a
Nolan Jakrewski pass to make the score 5-3 at the end of two. In the 3rd period Toledo scored a pair to Close
the Scoring for the evening.
