Ryan Kelly had two extra base hits, sparking the Marthas Vineyard Sharks (24-21) to an 8-6 victory over the Seacoast Mavericks (21-24) on Wednesday at Vineyard Baseball Park.

He doubled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Max Slade kept contact to a minimum, striking out five the Seacoast Mavericks batters. The Marthas Vineyard Sharks' pitcher tossed five innings of shutout ball and allowed only four hits.

Michael Mastroberti racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Seacoast Mavericks. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the third and ninth innings.

Andrew Schultz pitched lights out for the Seacoast Mavericks. Schultz held the Marthas Vineyard Sharks hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Austin French (3-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.

The Marthas Vineyard Sharks' Will Toffey, Brendan Cox and Kelly combined for five hits and four RBIs.
