A magnificent effort by Jon Mayer carried the Marthas Vineyard Sharks (17-15) to a 7-1 win over the Worcester Bravehearts (19-10) on Thursday at Fitton Field.

Mayer blasted two home runs for the Marthas Vineyard Sharks. Mayer went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Mayer homered in the seventh and ninth innings.

The Marthas Vineyard Sharks blew out the Worcester Bravehearts thanks to 12 hits, including zero extra base hits. A two-run home run by Mayer helped the Marthas Vineyard Sharks score two runs in the seventh. The Marthas Vineyard Sharks had two hits in the inning.

Soren Hanson struck out eight hitters en route to the the Marthas Vineyard Sharks win. Hanson allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks over seven innings.

Nate Pajka had a hot bat for the Worcester Bravehearts. Pajka went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the seventh inning.

Sam Ross (0-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
