Press Release

Date:  Source: EJHL Atlanta Junior Knights

Congratulations to the Atlanta Knights Hockey Organization as it continues to develop, grow and sustain the sport of hockey within the southeast United States. We have just completed the 2013-14 season and are excited to announce the continued restoration of the heritage rink of Atlanta: The Marietta Ice Center. We are committed to sustaining, improving and expanding the MIC over the next 15 years.

Our organization is set to begin a renovation this spring and summer that will increase the efficiency of the MIC facility.  A major overhaul of the MIC will take place once our new facility is open to our Atlanta Knight families. The renovation time line has been created to allow continued use of the ice for all of our scheduled spring and summer programs. This schedule allows us to stay open all summer to ensure the continued development of all players within our program and the surrounding Atlanta area.  The Marietta Sports Center, located off  Barrett Parkway in Marietta, Ga. will begin construction in late spring.  We anticipate opening in mid Fall of 2014. More details will be announced as the final construction schedule is set.

Our Atlanta Knights Youth Hockey Director, Mo Morrison, is expanding and developing the youth hockey program for this upcoming season. The successful execution of increased practice times, coordination of coaches at all levels working within the same developmental model, and increased communication with parents has created a hockey model that is unsurpassed in Atlanta. The increased skill level over the course of the season was evident to coaches, parents and fans of hockey throughout the country. Our teams competed successfully at higher levels due to the coordinated effort of the Atlanta Knights organization to put the development of our players first. Tryouts have already been scheduled for the 2014-15 hockey season for May 30th – June 2nd, 2014.  Look for more updates over the next few weeks at mariettaicecenter.com, as Coach Mo outlines the expanded framework of our program. The Spring Hockey Clinics have been scheduled and are filling up quickly. Sign up online or come in to the MIC and fill out a registration form.

Our Atlanta Junior Knights program continues to grow as a nationally recognized team within the USPHL

Elite and Empire leagues.  We continue to grow and develop players within the Atlanta community that transition into junior players. Players from around the country are attracted to our program for their continued development and growth into a college hockey program. The organization continues to build a strong core of players that strive to become elite athletes and students. The family atmosphere within the organization from owners, coaches, players and billet families is an experience that stays with you your entire life. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Atlanta Junior Knights program, please e-mail Head Coach Ralph Barahona at rbarahona@gmail.com for more information. The Atlanta Junior Knights website, atlantajuniorknights.com, will be posting updated information on tryouts for next season within the next week.
