2017 PACKERS TRAINING CAMP
Date: Jun 16, 2017
A big night from forward Jake Gaudet would end up being the deciding factor as the Arnprior Packers pulled out a 4-3 victory over the Almonte Thunder. With the win the Packers take a 2-1 Series lead in the Valley Division Semi Finals. Game 4 is this coming Friday night live from Arnprior at 8pm.
The Packers would get the scoring started just over 6 minutes into the game when he took a drop pass in the slot from John McLean and sniped top shelf on goaltender Alex Daley. The play would go back and forth for the rest of the 1st period but neither goalie would budge and the Packers would escape the period up 1-0.
The Packers would pull ahead 2-0 in the 2nd period when Damian Armstrong beat Daley five-hole on a quick shot through a screen. Nick Wysman would put Arnprior up 3-0 when he would grab a loose puck off the faceoff and beat Daley high off the crossbar and in. Almonte would answer with just 40 seconds left in the period to get on the board before Jake Gaudet undressed 3 players before beating Daley backhand short side with just 14 ticks on the clock to put the Packers ahead 4-1 after 2 periods of play.
Almonte would come storming back in the 3rd period as they would score 2 quick goals in less than 15 seconds to get within one but Packers goaltender Erik Miksik would stand tall from there and the Packers would defeat Almonte 4-3.
