Dayton, OH - Ahmed Mahfouz was a sight for sore eyes this evening as he returned to the line-up this evening and the charismatic leader of the Demonz scored the game winner for Dayton in their 7-6 overtime victory over the Watertown Privateers in a hard fought victory.

Dayton would control the 1st period pressuring the Privateers, with numerous scoring opportunities that had Watertown on their heels in the initial frame.  Watertown goaltender Bryan Kalcznski stood tall in the net for the Privateers; in what could have been a blow-out early on, only to have Dayton take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.  August Aiken and Jesse Felten scored a minute apart as the Demonz took a 2-0 lead.  Watertown's Ray Tremblay's goal under a minute left in the period cut the score 2-1.

The second period had the Privateers begin to take control of the game, in what would be a see-saw battle in the next 40 minutes of play.  Watertown in the 2nd would create their own scoring chances, pressuring the Demonz in their zone, and Dayton's goaltender Jeff Rose being called upon on several occasions to make point blank saves, as numerous Privateers were left wide open in the slot area.  Privateers Britt Ouellette and Tremblay's second of the evening saw Watertown take a 3-2 lead early in the middle frame.  Robert Vanwynsberghe of the Demonz would tie the game at 3-3, just a minute after Watertown took the lead.  However Brent Clarke goal with just over 5 minutes left in the period gave the Privateers a 4-3 lead.  With play continuing to go back and forth, Vanwynsberghe 2nd goal in the period tied it for Dayton at 4-4 heading into the 3rd period.

With Watertown continuing to frustrate the Demonz early in the 3rd period, Clarke would add his second goal of the game, regaining the lead 5-4, 3 minutes into the 3rd period.  Dayton responded with Ahmed Mahfouz tying the game with his 1st in the evening (two minutes after Clarke's goal), the game remained tied 5-5 until the final minute of the period.

With Dayton just completing a dramatic 5 on 3 penalty kill late in the game, Demon Jesse Felton (2nd of the game) scored in what appeared to be the game winner with a short-handed goal and give Dayton the 6-5 lead with less than a minute left in the period.

Watertown's never-say-die attitude this evening pulled their goalie after the ensuing face-off and with the extra-attacker tie the game 10 seconds later on Beni Berisha's tally making it 6-6 at the end of regulation.

In the overtime Mahfouz of the Demonz, a man known for his timely goals, took advantage of his scoring chance, ripping it into the Privateers net and bringing the hometown crowd to their feet with his game winner, and the Demonz the 7-6 overtime victory.
