Pontebba completes comeback, beats Asiago, 3-2

The Pontebba Aquile FVG rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over Asiago.

Pontebba never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Aquile FVG fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Asiago's Matthew MacDonald at 10:44 in the first period. Pontebba knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Felice Giugliano at 1:34 in the second period. The Aquile FVG got the game winner at 18:30 in the third period on a goal by Giugliano.

Pontebba was paced by Luca Rigoni, who racked up one goal.

Pontebba also got a goal from Patrick Iannone as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pontebba were Tommy Goebel, Jakob Milovanovic, Nick Anderson, Slavomir Tomko, Brian Stephen Ihnacak, and Matt Waddell, who each chipped in one.

Asiago's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Pontebba power plays. Asiago could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Nicola Tessari also scored for Asiago. In addition, Asiago received assists from Enrico Miglioranzi, who had one and Sean Bentivoglio, who had two.

Alex Petizian made 31 saves for the Aquile FVG on 33 shots. Pontebba incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Asiago's Jeff Lerg stopped 40 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Asiago registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
