HC Eppan Appiano Sarah penalty kill dominates in 5-1 defeat of HC Gherdeina

The HC Gherdeina Furie failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the HC Eppan Appiano Sarah Pirates shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-1.

HC Eppan Appiano Sarah was paced by David Ceresa, who finished with one goal and one assist. Ceresa scored 5:56 into the second period to make the score 2-0 HC Eppan Appiano Sarah. Tobias Ebner provided the assist.

The Pirates put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow HC Gherdeina to score on any of its eight power plays. HC Eppan Appiano Sarah could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

HC Eppan Appiano Sarah additionally got points from Patrick Wallenberg, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Jan Waldner, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. HC Eppan Appiano Sarah also got a goal from Philipp Jaitner as well. More assists for HC Eppan Appiano Sarah came via Jake Newton and Fabian Ebner, who each chipped in one.

The Furie stifled the Pirates' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. HC Gherdeina could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Furie average 3.3 goals per game.

HC Gherdeina was led by Oliver Schenk, who scored the team's only goal. Schenk scored 1:58 into the third period to make the score 3-1 HC Eppan Appiano Sarah. Fabrizio Senoner assisted on the tally.

Mark Demetz made 17 saves for HC Eppan Appiano Sarah on 18 shots. The Pirates registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. The Furie's Florian Grossgasteiger stopped 18 shots out of the 23 that he faced. HC Gherdeina incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
