Leafs beat Bruins, 2-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Ray Bourque provided Leafs with the game-winning tally when he scored nine seconds into the the first period. Tyler Seguin picked up the assist.Leafs did not waste many scoring chances, needing only four shots to achieve its goal tally. Leafs was led by Bourque, who tallied one goal. Leafs' offense revolved around and Bobby Orr, who put and three shots on net. More assists for Leafs came via Joe Winger, who had one and Brad Marchant, who had two. Geoffry Lupel generated most of Bruins' offense, taking one out of Bruins' one shot. Bruins did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Tim Thomas recorded one save for Leafs. Leafs ended with no penalties and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Bruins' James Reimer stopped two shots out of the four that he faced. Bruins registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
