Schultz's big game bests Brampton in 6-3 Rapid City win

Jesse Schultz had two goals and two assists to lead Rapid City to a 6-3 victory over the Brampton Beast.

Schultz's tallies came on the power play at 1:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City and 3:34 into the third to make the score 4-3 Rapid City.

Rapid City racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with three minors and four majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. Rapid City surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Rapid City bested its season scoring average. Rapid City has scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Rapid City took advantage of Brampton's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. Rapid City put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.2 it averages per game.

Rapid City also got points from Anthony Perdicaro, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Rapid City also had goals scored by Jared Brown, Kevin Harvey, and Kyle Stroh, who scored one goal each. In addition, Rapid City received assists from Tristin Llewellyn, who had two and Winston Day Chief, Tim Boron, and Ben Power, who each chipped in one.

The Beast were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and four majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game Brampton had been spending in the box.

The Beast were helped by Calin Wild, who registered one goal. Wild scored 2:16 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Frank Littlejohn provided the assist. Others who scored for Brampton included Andrew Fournier and Jason Pitton, who each put in one. More assists for Brampton came via Andrew Buck, Matt Caruana, and Scott Howes, who contributed one each.

Boron rejected 21 shots on goal for Rapid City. Grant Rollheiser recorded 29 saves for Brampton. The Beast registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
