Quad City downs St. Charles, 3-1

Mike Hellyer registered one point to lead the Quad City Mallards to a 3-1 victory over the St. Charles Chill.

Quad City was below its usual level of shot production, taking 21 shots compared to the 32.3 the Mallards average.

Quad City additionally got points from Thomas Frazee, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Quad City also got a goal from Vladimir Nikiforov as well. More assists for Quad City came via Nicolas Rioux and Jeff Lee, who each chipped in one.

With 24 shots on target during the contest, St. Charles exceeded the 20.7 shots it averages per game this year. The defense for the Chill played an important role offensively, racking up 12 shots on goal.

St. Charles was led by Steve Anthony, who scored the team's only goal. Anthony scored on the power play 16:29 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Chill had gained a power play chance when Hellyer was whistled for hooking. Nicklas Lindberg assisted on the tally.

Ty Rimmer made 23 saves for Quad City on 24 shots. The Mallards incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. St. Charles' Linus Lundin stopped 18 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Chill incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
