Allen outlasts St. Charles, 6-4

The game between the Allen Americans and the St. Charles Chill was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Allen emerged with a 6-4 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Alex Lavoie's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Darryl Bootland had one goal and two assists to lead the Americans. Bootland scored 15:05 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Allen. Lavoie provided the assist.

Allen stifled St. Charles' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Americans average 33.6 shots on goal per game, but only sent 26 pucks on net against the Chill. Allen surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Americans average 3.6 goals per contest.

Allen also got points from Lavoie, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jamie Schaafsma also scored for Allen. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Tyler Ludwig, Mike Berube, Daniel Tetrault, Charles Lachance, Kale Kerbashian, Trevor Ludwig, Corey Tamblyn, and Trevor Hendrikx, who each chipped in one.

The defense for St. Charles played an important role offensively, racking up 12 shots on goal.

The Chill were helped by Kyle OKane, who registered one goal. OKane scored 12:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Charles. Sean Muncy picked up the assist. St. Charles also got a goal from Steve Makway as well. In addition, St. Charles received assists from Dean Moore, Chad Costello, Justin Levac, Tyler Barr, and Anthony Pisano, who contributed one a piece.

David Brown recorded 23 saves for Allen. The Americans totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Mathieu Corbiel made 20 saves for St. Charles on 25 shots. The Chill totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
