Missouri falls to Fort Wayne in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Fort Wayne Komets pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Missouri Mavericks on a clutch goal by Frankie DeAngelis.

With the win, Fort Wayne evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

The Komets almost relinquished a two-score lead. Fort Wayne made the score 3-1 on a goal by Chris Auger at 16:28 in the second period. Missouri pulled to within 3-2 on a power play goal by Andrew Courtney at 9:22 in the third period.

Jamie Milam was all over the ice for the Komets, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Milam scored 19:38 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Brett Smith assisted on the tally.

Fort Wayne forced the Mavericks goalie Charlie Effinger to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. The Komets' defensemen played well offensively, producing two goals while racking up 21 shots.

Fort Wayne also got a goal from Leo Thomas as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Wayne were Colin Chaulk, who had two and Jamie Lovell, Daniel Maggio, and Mike Vaskivuo, who each chipped in one.

Missouri's offense rang up 44 shots on Fort Wayne's net.

The Mavericks were helped by John-Scott Dickson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Dickson scored on the power play 18:56 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Missouri. Missouri had gained a power play chance when Brent Henley was whistled for tripping. Ryan Jardine picked up the assist. Missouri additionally got points from Courtney, who also had one goal and one assist. Ed McGrane also scored for Missouri. In addition, Missouri received assists from Dave Pszenyczny, Patrick Schafer, David Simoes, Kris Hogg, and Sebastien Thinel, who contributed one a piece.

Nick Boucher rejected 40 shots on goal for the Komets. Fort Wayne incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Charlie Effinger made 46 saves for the Mavericks on 51 shots. Missouri incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
