Fort Wayne's Rizk deadly on offense in 3-1 win against Missouri

The Fort Wayne Komets relied on the scoring touch of Jean-Michel Rizk, who netted two goals, to beat the Missouri Mavericks, 3-1.

Rizk found the back of the net 6:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 5:19 into the third to make the score 2-1 Fort Wayne.

The win moved Fort Wayne to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

The Komets were led by goalie Nick Boucher, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Boucher certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.66 entering the contest.

Fort Wayne excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Komets kept Missouri's goalie busy throughout the game, and Charlie Effinger made 39 saves on 42 shots.

Brett Smith also scored for Fort Wayne. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Wayne were Bryant Molle, Stephon Thorne, Brent Henley, and Kaleigh Schrock, who contributed one a piece.

The Mavericks stifled Fort Wayne's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Komets were unable to stop Missouri from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mavericks eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Missouri was led by Ed McGrane, who scored the team's only goal. McGrane scored 4:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri. Sebastien Thinel assisted on the tally.

Fort Wayne incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Mavericks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
