Edmondson nets hat trick, leads Rio Grande Valley to 7-2 win over Laredo

The Laredo Bucks could not stop the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees' Reid Edmondson, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-2 win.

Edmondson got on the scoresheet 52 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 26 seconds into the third and at 15:21 into the third.

By firing 28 shots on goal, Rio Grande Valley exceeded the 22.8 shots it averages per game this year. The Killer Bees outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Rio Grande Valley averages 3.2 goals per contest.

Rio Grande Valley additionally got points from Brandon Campos, who also had one goal and one assist and Dan Gendur, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Aaron Lee also scored for Rio Grande Valley. Other players who recorded assists for Rio Grande Valley were Aaron Boogaard, who had three, Nicolas Rioux and Scott Balan, who contributed one a piece, and Tomas Klempa and Kirill Startsev, who each chipped in two.

The 24 shots that Laredo put on net surpassed the Bucks' average of 19.1 shots per game this season. Laredo's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 10 shots on net during the game.

The Killer Bees' John Murray stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Rio Grande Valley totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Ryan Rondeau recorded 21 saves for the Bucks. Laredo totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
