Evansville downs Wichita, 3-1

Maxime Boisclair grabbed two points to lead the Evansville IceMen to a 3-1 victory over the Wichita Thunder.

Evansville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The IceMen were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled five minors and two majors for 20 minutes in penalty time.

Luke Stauffacher also scored for Evansville. Other players who recorded assists for Evansville were Todd Robinson, who had two and Nicklas Lindberg and Malcolm Gwilliam, who each chipped in one.

Wichita forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up five minors and two majors for 20 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game the Thunder had been spending in the box. Wichita's offense operated below it season average. The Thunder average 3.5 goals per game. By firing 22 shots on goal, Wichita exceeded the 19.1 shots it averages per game this year.

The Thunder were led by Matt Robinson, who scored the team's only goal. Robinson scored 9:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita. Chris Chappell picked up the assist.

Bryan Gillis rejected 21 shots on goal for Evansville. The IceMen registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Adam Russo recorded 19 saves for Wichita.
