Allen uses early goal to top Laredo, 4-2

Brian McMillin gave Allen the lead in the first period, and the Laredo Bucks was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2.

Allen took over the lead for good with a goal by McMillin at 11:33 in the first period. Jeff Martens assisted on the tally.

Brett Clouthier had two goals to lead Allen to victory. Clouthier scored at 7:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 5:03 into the second to make the score 3-1 Allen.

Allen stifled Laredo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Allen put 38 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.1 it averages per game.

Joshua Hepditch also scored for Allen. In addition, Allen received assists from Nick Layton, who had two, Colton Yellow Horn, who had three, and Tyler Ludwig and Dylan King, who contributed one a piece.

The Bucks' defensemen bolstered Laredo's offensive attack, as they bombarded Marco Cousineau with 15 shots. With 32 shots on target during the contest, the Bucks exceeded the 23.7 shots they average per game this year.

Laredo was led by A.J. Hau, who tallied one goal and one assist. Hau scored 6:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Laredo. Ryan Sparling provided the assist. Laredo also got a goal from Matt Boyd as well. Other players who recorded assists for Laredo were David Inman, who had two.

Cousineau rejected 30 shots on goal for Allen. Allen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Bucks' Ryan Rondeau stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Laredo incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
